Chongqing Horizontal Skyscraper is located in Chaotianmen, Yuzhong District, including 1sky “crystal connecting corridor” and 8 high-rise tower buildings, which contain 6 buildings with 250 meters in height, and 2 buildings with 350 meters in height. These buildings will be functioned as residential building, shopping mall, office building, hotel and apartment. The total investment of this project is about 24 billion RMB, while its total building area reaches to 1,100,000 square meters.

From the perspective of design, the most special part of this project is the“crystal connecting corridor”. It goes 200 meters high up in the sky, crossing the top of 4 tower buildings with 250 meters high, and the main material involved in this corridor is Q390 high-strength steel and it adopts the multi-layer & multi-bead welding joints. Additionally, the length of this corridor is 300 meters, width is 30 meters and height is 22.5 meters; the total building area of this part is 10,000 square meters with total weight of 40,000tons. Once completed, the “crystal connecting corridor” will include a 270-degree sky observation platform, a 50-meter infinity pool, a sky club, restaurants, etc. Meanwhile, this corridor uses the advanced friction pendulum isolator in structure, to release the effect of strong wind; this project will also install the seismic dampers.

At the same time, the high-rise tower buildings involved in this project adopt the composite structure of steel-concrete with certain radians, shaped as the mast. From each 3-5 floors, these buildings will slightly change the angle. There will be full of plants in the north part of this project, forming a natural green garden in the sky. Together with the “crystal connecting corridor”, the whole project looks like a sailing boat, so it also named as “sailing in the sky”. According to the construction plan, this project will be totally topped out in the July of 2019, and will be a new landmark in Chongqing city once completed.
