A new opera, named “Sound of the Phoenix”, is built in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. The total building area of this project is 39,000 sqm and it is 66 m in height.
A new opera, named “Sound of the Phoenix”, is built in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. The total building area of this project is 39,000 sqm and it is 66 m in height. The newly-built opera contains opera hall, performance hall, observation deck and bungee jump platform. This opera building looks like a “phoenix”, so it gets the beautiful name, “Sound of the Phoenix”. Meanwhile, this project adopts the structure of “frame+ superallotype space”, and the glass clad is LOW-E typed glass and aluminum plate with curved face. The total steel consumption of this project is 8,500 t.
From the perspective of design, the main building of this opera contains 2 rectangular space structures functioned as opera hall and performance hall. In particular, the performance hall shaped as a circle and its center is equipped with a big stage, which is rounded by seats. In addition, this performance hall is supported by 4 huge steel columns, and the mouth of “Phoenix” functioned as bungee jump platform. During construction period, there are 40 cranes with lifting capacity of 50-500 tons, 130 welding machines and over 500 workers onsite for fabrication. Additionally, high-strength bolts also involved in this project. This project is completed and put into use in the middle of 2018.
