 Tong Yangtze River Highway Bridge (hereinafter referred to as Su Tong Bridge) is located between Nantong city and Suzhou city of Jiangsu province with total length of 32.4km, which is consisted of three projects: river-crossing bridge works, the connecting works of south and north shore. 

 

Su Tong Bridge is the largest and most complicated extra-large bridge project in China till now. The river-crossing works adopts the cable-stayed style with double towers and double cable planes whose main span is 1088 m, which breaks four world records including “the deepest pile group foundation”, ”the highest bridge tower”, “the longest stayed-cable” and “the largest main-span”. The largest main span-the span length is 1,088 m.

 

The deepest pile group foundation-the main pier foundation is composed of 131 pile groups at 120m length and 2.5-2.8m in diameter. The cushion cap is 114m long and 48 m wide, built on the 300m soft ground below the water of 49m depth, which is the largest scale and the deepest group pile in the world.

 

The highest bridge tower-currently, the existing highest bridge is Tatara Bridge at 224m high, Su Tong Bridge uses the concrete tower at 300.4m high, keeping the records of the highest bridge tower in the world.

 

The longest stayed-cable- the stayed-cable of Su Tong Bridge is 577 m long, and is 100 longer than Tatara Bridge.
