Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center is located in the south of Qiantang River and east of Third Qianjiang Bridge; consisted of a main stadium with 80,000 seats and a main sports hall with 18,000 seats as well as a swimming pool, a tennis center, a baseball & softball center, a hockey field, a small ball center, an indoor athletics center and a heavy sports center. It is one of the largest stadiums in China where the international, intercontinental and national comprehensive sports events can be hold.

 

Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium is built in accordance with extraordinary super-class sport architecture standard; the design service life of main structure is 100 years, which is regard as a new landmark of Hangzhou. The canopy of steel structure is east-west asymmetry with annular petal shape including 28 main petals and secondary petals. The outer edge of canopy is 333mx285m, the maximum width is 68m and cantilever length is 52.5m, while the highest elevation is 59.4m. The canopy is supported on reinforced concrete stands and platforms by upper and lower bearings, composed of spatial tubular truss and single-layer reticulated steel structural system.

 

The building scale of Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium is larger than Bird’s Nest in Beijing, with total investment of RMB2.59 billion (land price is excluded) and with total building area of 225,000sqm, including 6 floors on the ground and 2 floors underground, and a 95,000sqm of “one museum and two centers” (Hangzhou Mass Culture Center, Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center and China Sigillography Museum).
