Anqing Railway Yangtze River Bridge is the world’s largest stay-cable bridge with four-track lines that has been built and opened to traffic as well as the railway bridge with the world’s largest span that has been built. This Yangtze River Bridge is a stay-cable bridge that adopts continuous steel trussed girder design with six spans, the main span is up to 580 m, setting a record of bridge spans for Chinese bridge with four-track lines. The whole length of this project is 2,996.8 m, including the main bridge with 1,363 m long, while the total investment of this project is 1.95 billion RMB. Besides, the total steel consumption of this project is about 20,000 t. The height of its twin main towers is 210 m, the length and weight of each stayed cable are 300 m and 35 tons respectively, reaching the top of world’s railway bridge. Thus, the features of whole railway bridge are “Deepwater, Large Span, High Speed and Heavy Load”.

Multiple new materials, technologies, structures have been adopted in the design process for this bridge, many design and construction indexes have been reached the international advanced level. The fifth generation of high-performance WNQ570(Q420qE)-new steel grade with proprietary intellectual property rights, Plate-Truss Composite Structure-combination of three main trusses and orthotropic plates for whole railway deck as well as new stud-welded type combined two parallel stayed beam anchorage structure have also been used.
