Lujiazui Harbour City Exhibition Centre Completed

Recently, the Liujiazui Harbour City Exhibition Centre in Shanghai is completed, which is designed by OMA, the well-known architect in the world. This exhibition centre is located in the site of Shanghai Shipyard with the shape of “3D frame”.


The newly-built project is consisted of an exhibition centre and a berth-building square with total area of 1,500sqm, which is surrounded by a 6,000sqm of outdoor square. The net-shaped facade and exposed steel structure and industrial style of this building also reflect the history of shipyard.

The architects skillfully adopt the modern technology to show the past memories. Nearly half of the original shipyard slope there exposed to the outside, which is used to the construction of outside theater. One corner of the newly added volume with the shape of “suspending box” is set up by steel structure, forming a shady square. The inner of the building adopts steel structure with large windows, therefore, is functioned as a place for relaxing and watching shows. In the coming years, the Lujiazui Harbour City Exhibition Center in Shanghai will be a significant exhibition venue for holding public art exhibitions, large outdoor concerts and large commercial exhibitions.
