China’s Largest Wind-Rain Bridge is Underway in LiuZhou

Liuzhou of Guangxi is known as the “Bridge City” because it has most cross-river-bridges in China; in addition, Liuzhou also enjoys the reputation of “Bridge Museum” on account of the advantage on shape and quantity. A new largest wind-rain bridge-Phoenix ridge bridge will commence soon, the main bridge is a single tower cable-stayed bridge with steel box girder implying “The door of Liuzhou”, and the bridge type applies the design of “Five piers, six holes, seven towers”, single tower is designed, the steel is used on the roofs of towers and corridors.

In the past few days, the Liuzhou Standing Committee Meeting approved in where the type of “wind-rain bridge with drum tower pavilion” was finally adopted. In consideration of landscape feature, surrounding environment and modern industrial city, the bridge pavilion on the tower uses the single-pavilion layout, the both ends of bridge apply the quadrilateral five-layer eaves, and increase to hexagonal seven-layer eaves gradually and to octagonal seven-layer eaves on the top, the relative height of pavilion is 41.8 meters, with main span 700 meters for main bridge and 48-meter wide, whatever in span, width and height, it is among the largest in China’s wind-rain bridge.

Phoenix Ridge Bridge is located between the Hedong Bridge and Partridges river bridge, main line 2.7 km long, with six lanes, and rail transit space is reserved. It will be the 22nd bridge of the Liujiang River; the construction will commence this year as scheduled.
