Shanghai Tower

 

“Shanghai Tower” is located in core zone of Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone in Pudong District, Shanghai, China. The total height of main building is 632 m, including 121 floors above the ground and five floors underground. With the total built-up area is 576,000 sqm, it is a vertical city integrating offices, hotels, exhibitions, businesses and sightseeing.

 

The whole building model is unique with curved round and triangle facades spiraling up with continuous 120-degree angles, forming unique and exquisite streamlining glass crystals, embodying booming vitality of modern China.

 

As the guide of global sustainable development design concept, the Shanghai Tower is strictly referred to design standards of green buildings, collectively adopting various green building technologies. The greening rate is up to 33%, showing people the commitment and responsibility on maintaining ecological environment of Shanghai – an international metropolis.

 

After full consideration of interactive relationship among building and region even urban place, 632 m is set as the building height of Shanghai Tower, forming exquisite ascending arcs on the top together with Jin Mao Tower (420 m) and Shanghai World Financial Center (492 m) nearby and creating more harmonious super-high-rise buildings. As a new landmark in Shanghai, it would outline graceful city skyline with other landmark buildings in Lujiazui like the Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower, showing the results for reform and opening-up of Pudong District as well as time features of Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone.

 

As the last work of super-high-rise buildings at the heart of Lujiazui, the Shanghai Tower would become the largest single commercial building with highest building height in Shanghai after completion and officially open in 2015.

 

According to strategic objectives – to develop the financial service industry and establish international financial center in Shanghai, Shanghai Tower would be a new landmark building in the financial center of Lujiazui. It would also become important carrier of Financial Services Industry in Shanghai. Meanwhile, Shanghai Tower will play essential role in optimizing the integrated planning of Lujiazui area, perfecting the urban space, improving the comprehensive supporting functions and promoting the clusters of modern service industry, etc.

 

As a vertical city comprising nine vertical communities, Shanghai Tower has five functions:

Firstly, it is a super Grade A office building satisfying the international standard. Zones 2-6 are office areas, occupying an area of 220,000 sqm. In each zone, there is a transaction layer used for providing sound financial business space for financial enterprises. It provides the customized office space, system and service around the clock aiming at differential office requirements for financial services industry (including banks, insurances, security and funds), regional headquarters of transnational companies, modern new-type service industry.

 

Secondly, it includes super five-star hotels and boutique offices. The Zones 7-8 are Chinese super five-star hotel facing to high-end clients – J Hotel and boutique office areas, occupying an area of about 80,000 sqm in total. It provides personalized services, experiential accommodation environment and space for exchange and sharing.

 

Thirdly, it has all ancillary commercial branding services. The main function of 1-2 floor underground and podium building is commerce, and the area is about 50,000 sqm. It includes unique commercial facilities such as brand retailing, special food, business center, living service center, etc, providing comprehensive high-quality commerce supporting service for office staff, businessmen and resident families.

 

Fourthly, it has the function of tour and leisure & entertainment. The topside area for touring, which is located in Zone 9, is about 4,000 sqm. The tourists can enjoy the unparalleled city view and novel experience by means of interactive touring experience in super high-rise building. It breaks the empty city phenomenon out of 8 working hours for small Lujiazui area, becoming a commercial and cultural city integrating with touring, shopping, entertainment, leisure.
