Shanghai Building Material Industry Association
Shanghai Building Material Industry Association (hereinafter referred as SBMIA) was founded in 1986. This association contains 11 professional commissions involved in building material market circulation, building ceramics, sanitary wares, etc.; 7 working departments involved in coating, waterproof, windows, doors, etc.; four centers named building materials, exhibition, information and brand. Now, there are over 1,300 members in this association.

As the key industry for developing circular economy pilot, the building material industry has carried out a series of works for encouraging and guiding enterprises to develop newly-typed products related to building materials, which are characterized as saving materials, energy, water and land.

There are three main things for this association to function as an “exhibition center”. Firstly, SBMIA aims to combine the related resources together and contribute create well-organized energy-saving for buildings in China. SBMIA has held China (Shanghai) International Building and Interior Decoration Exhibition and International Building Energy Saving & Advanced Building Material Fair, the latter of which is the only building material exhibition that passes the UFI certificate in China. Also, SBMIA has successfully held several Green Building Materials Expo, which has become the platform that integrates Chinese enterprises of building materials with the international market. Secondly, SBMIA has participated in many international expositions and exchange activities to broaden its horizon. Thirdly, SBMIA has helped to organize meetings related to all kinds of industries and thus expand the business.

In addition, this association pays more attention to innovation and brand cultivation, forming a brand system of “high-quality building materials”, “technological innovation” and “technical expert”; SBMIA has also started a publication named Building World, providing a channel for information exchange and also for publicizing hot focuses such as energy-saving, environmental protection, recycling and renewable energy utilization. Now, Building World has become a professional information publication for engineering decoration in East China.
